Junior Rowing

Toowong Rowing Club’s Junior Program welcomes females and males who want to learn to row, build confidence and become part of a supportive crew.
The program is open to students from schools with and without rowing programs.
You don’t need previous experience, your own equipment or friends already in the program. Come ready to learn, get active and become part of a crew.
Whether you are taking your first stroke, returning to rowing or looking for a positive club environment in which to continue developing, there is a place for you at Toowong.

Growing through rowing
Our Junior Program is more than developing rowing skills. It uses training, teamwork and age-appropriate challenges to help young people become confident, resilient and responsible. We value effort, improvement, enjoyment, teamwork and the way athletes respond to challenges.
Your first strokes
Learn the foundations of rowing in a enjoyable and supportive environment. Beginners become familiar with boats and equipment, develop the basic rowing stroke and experience working together on the water.
Skills that grow with you
Build rowing technique, fitness, resilience and personal responsibility through structured, age-appropriate training. Progress is recognised through effort, improvement and increasing independence.
Stronger together
Form friendships, support teammates and become part of the Toowong Rowing Club community. When ready, rowers can take on new challenges together, including selected regattas.
Our coaching approach
Our Junior Program is led by Andrew Service, an experienced rowing coach committed to helping young athletes develop sound skills, confidence and a lasting enjoyment of the sport.
Our accredited coaches, create an environment that supports each athlete’s development as a rower and as a young person.
Andrew Service is an Australian rowing coach and high-performance administrator from Queensland. He has served as High Performance and Pathway Manager for Rowing Queensland, state team manager, and coach for international and schoolboy competitions, including leading the First VIII at Brisbane Boys' College.
Come and give rowing a go
